Candidate Guide
Learn how to upload CVs, optimize them with AI, track your applications, and prepare for interviews.
1. Getting Started (Onboarding)
Goal: Complete the 3-step onboarding flow so Applyer can build your master CV profile and start matching you with relevant jobs.
Steps
- Upload your CV - Upload an existing CV in PDF, DOCX, or plain text format. The AI will extract your experience, education, and skills to create your master profile.
- Upload a job description - Paste or upload a job description you are interested in. This helps Applyer understand the type of roles you are targeting and calibrate optimization suggestions.
- Processing - Applyer parses both documents, extracts key information, and builds your initial profile. This usually takes a few seconds.
Tip: Not ready to upload a job description? You can skip onboarding and come back later. Look for the "Skip" option at the bottom of the onboarding screen. Your profile will still be created from your CV.

2. CV Upload & AI Optimization
Goal: Upload your CV and use AI-powered optimization to tailor it for specific job applications - improving your match rate and making your experience stand out.
Steps
- Upload your CV - Supported formats: PDF, DOCX, and plain text. Your master CV text is stored securely and used as the base for all optimizations.
- Review AI analysis - The AI scans your CV for structure, keywords, and relevance to the target role. You will see a summary of strengths and areas for improvement.
- Apply optimization suggestions - Applyer generates a tailored version of your CV that highlights the most relevant experience for the job. Suggestions focus on content framing - not keyword stuffing.
- Download your optimized CV - Export the optimized version as a PDF (with Hebrew RTL support) ready to submit with your application.

3. Job Board & Filters
Goal: Browse the public job board to discover relevant opportunities, filter by your preferences, and save jobs for later.
Steps
- Browse public jobs - The job board shows all active public listings in both grid and list views. Each card displays the role title, company, location, and extracted skill pills.
- Use filters to narrow results - Filter by keyword, location, and remote/hybrid/on-site preference. Filters update the listing in real time.
- Check skill pills - Each job card shows up to 3 key skills extracted from the description. Use these to quickly gauge if a role matches your background.
- Save jobs - Click the bookmark icon to save a job to your personal list. Saved jobs appear in your dashboard for easy access later.
Tip: Switch between grid and list views using the toggle in the top-right corner of the job board. List view is more compact and shows more results at once.

4. Application CRM Pipeline
Goal: Track every application from submission to offer using the built-in CRM pipeline - so nothing falls through the cracks.
Steps
- Understand the pipeline - Applications flow through 9 statuses organized into 4 kanban lanes: Applied, In Progress, Offer, and Closed. Each lane groups related statuses together for a clear overview.
- Update application status - As you hear back from companies, move your applications to the correct status. Statuses include: Applied, Screening, Interview, Technical, Offer, Accepted, Rejected, Withdrawn, and Stale.
- Track where you applied - Each application records the channels you used (company site, LinkedIn, referral, etc.) in the applied_via field, so you can see which channels work best.
- Watch for stale alerts - Applications that have not been updated in a while are flagged as stale on your dashboard. Follow up or archive them to keep your pipeline clean.
Tip: The dashboard widget highlights stale applications automatically. Check it regularly to stay on top of follow-ups and avoid missed opportunities.

5. Interview Prep
Goal: Use AI-generated interview preparation tailored to the specific job and your CV - covering common questions, technical topics, and practice strategies.
Steps
- Start interview prep - From any job card, click the interview prep option. The AI analyzes both the job description and your CV to generate personalized preparation material.
- Review question types - Prep covers behavioral questions, technical questions, role-specific scenarios, and company culture fit. Each question includes guidance on how to structure your answer.
- Practice with talking points - For each question, the AI suggests relevant experience from your CV to reference. Use these as a starting point for your own answers.
- Review and iterate - You can regenerate prep for the same job to get fresh questions. Each generation uses 1 credit.
Tip: Interview prep works best when your master CV is complete and up-to-date. Make sure your skills and recent experience are included before generating prep material.

6. Salary Negotiation
Goal: Get AI-powered salary insights and negotiation talking points grounded in market context - so you can negotiate with confidence.
Steps
- View salary insights - When available, Applyer provides salary range estimates for the role based on the job description, seniority level, and location context.
- Understand market context - Insights include Israeli market context where relevant - industry benchmarks, common benefit structures, and cost-of-living considerations.
- Use negotiation talking points - The AI generates specific talking points you can use during salary discussions. These reference your experience level and the value you bring to the role.
- Prepare your ask - Combine the market data and talking points to formulate a clear, evidence-based salary expectation before entering negotiations.
Tip: Salary insights are most accurate when the job description includes location and seniority information. If the listing is vague, the AI will note this and provide a wider range.
